Whimsical Sienna was born from unsettled frustration and the stubborn conviction that you deserve better.
Lerato grew up navigating a haircare industry plagued with bold claims and underwhelming results, greenwashed "natural" labels masking poorly understood formulations, and the assumption that haircare is simple, when the science of hair health is anything but.
*As a triple-major BSc in Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Chemistry, and MSc in Biotechnology — all awarded with distinction (Rhodes University), Lerato, a Mandela Washington Fellow and social innovation lab Senior Associate with a certification in natural haircare formulation, knew the gap between what was being sold and what was possible.
But science is only half the story.
The name Whimsical Sienna comes from a genuine desire to see people feel carefree, celebrated, and wholly themselves. Whimsical Sienna is a sweet, hand-wrtten love letter to the African continent, its extraordinary botanical heritage, and the ingredients that have nourished and healed for generations.
