What is Porosity?

Porosity is your hair’s relationship with moisture.

It’s all about how open or snug the cuticle layer sits along each strand. When the cuticles lie flat and close, water has to politely knock before it’s let in. When they’re more open, moisture flows in freely but can slip right back out just as fast.

In other words, porosity decides whether hydration lingers like a guest who stays for tea or says “Hi! and “Bye!” in th the same breath.

What everyone's asking:

Can my hair porosity change over time?

Yes! While genetics play a massive role, your porosity can change due to environmental factors and how you treat your hair.

Heat styling, chemical relaxers, bleach, UV exposure, and even harsh sulfates can raise your hair cuticles over time, shifting your hair from low or medium porosity to high porosity.

Are your products natural?

Yes! All our products are plant-based and free from sulphates, parabens, mineral oils, silicones, and artificial colours and fragrance. Everything we use comes from nature, including incredible African botanicals like Resurrection Bush, Kigelia, and Baobab.

Will this work for my hair type?

Our range is designed primarily for textured, curly, coily, and wavy hair but anyone with dry or moisture-needy hair will benefit. The key is matching the right products to your porosity and hair concerns.

I have a nut allergy — can I use these?

Thank you for flagging that! Our products do contain nut-derived oils and butters, and they’re made in an environment with nut oils. We always recommend checking with your doctor first if you have a serious nut allergy. A patch test is a must for anyone with sensitivities.

How long before I see results?

Hair growth and repair takes time, most customers notice improved moisture and softness within the first 1-2 uses. For growth results with the Hair Oil, we recommend consistent use over 4-8 weeks, but permanent hair growth results from significant hair loss can take between 6-9 months.

Are these products safe for relaxed/chemically treated hair?

Yes! Our sulphate-free, silicone-free formula is gentle on chemically treated hair. The conditioner in particular is wonderful for recovering and strengthening processed hair.
